Morning & Afternoon: After breakfast, to Kodari, the crossing point at the border of Nepal and China. After completion of immigration formalities continue your drive to Nyalam, Tibet taking in the stunning scenery.
Morning & Afternoon: A rest day to acclimatise.
Nyalam | Saga
Morning & Afternoon: After breakfast drive to Saga along a very scenic route, en route stop at Lhaste. This scenically rewarding drive provides plenty of opportunities for grand photography. Later the trail winds north and reaches Saga. Stay overnight in camp at 4,050m.
Saga | Paryang
Morning: An early breakfast, drive to Paryang amidst enchanting panoramic views. Stay overnight in camp.
Paryang | Manasarovar
Morning & Afternoon: An early start for your drive to Mansarovar, a breathtaking sacred lake. Visit a vantage point for your first glimpse of Mount Kailash. Stay overnight in camp.
Morning & Afternoon: A free day for small excursions and acclimatisation around one of the most beautiful lakes in Tibet.
Manasarovar | Darchen
Morning & Afternoon: After breakfast explore more of Lake Mansarovar then drive to Darchen, the gateway to Mount Kailash situated right in front of the sacred mountain.
Darchen | Driraphuk
Morning & Afternoon: Meet your team of yaks and Tibetan yak drivers, who will escort you on the 53km Kailash trek or ‘kora’.
Driraphuk | Zutrulphuk
Morning & Afternoon: Leave the Lha Chu valley behind you, as you trek towards the Drolma Chu valley. From there you ascend to Drolma La, at 5,630m the highest point of the trek, the tough and challenging ascent is worthwhile when with the breathtaking view of Thukpe Dzingbu Lake, also known as the Lake of Compassion.
Zutrulphuk | Darchen | Horfe
Morning & Afternoon: Leading away from Zutul-Puk the trail follows through the Bharkha plain leading to Darchen. Today is an easy walk along impressive gorges, lined with mani stones and mani walls, back to the Bharka plains and to dusty Darchen. Your trek finishes today and according to local beliefs, you have erased your sins. From Darchen drive a short way to Horfe.
Horfe | Paryang
Morning & Afternoon: A long drive crossing Mayum-la and several rivers. The scenery along this road is some of the most beautiful of the entire journey.
Paryang | Saga
Morning & Afternoon: Continue driving towards Saga, passing through Zhongba and a few smaller passes.
Saga | Nyalam
Morning & Afternoon: Cross the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra River) by ferry and then continue driving to Nyalam. Soon after leaving Saga the road opens into a wide, flat plain and passes a huge, turquoise lake, the Peiku-Tso, from where you get a spectacular view of Shishapangma (8,027m). Drive on across Lalung la (5,200m) through a perfect blend of breathtaking views, alpine meadow trails and picturesce hamlets.
Nyalam | Kathmandu
Morning & Afternoon: Drive to the border town Zhangmu, from here it is a short drive to the Friendship Bridge, which spans the Bhote Kosi River which marks the Chinese-Nepalese border. Here you say goodbye to your Tibetan guide and driver and walk to the Nepalese Immigration Control in Kodari. Your Nepalese guide will meet you there and help completing the re-entry formalities. Continue your drive to Kathmandu.
