A moderate Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek explores high altitude lakes overflowing with trout and mystical history. Mostly short trekking days but includes a few steep climbs. This trek is a great option for those wishing to experience Bhutan’s many types of flora and fauna, also to glimpse at the local nomadic lifestyle. Also includes a tour of the fascinating sites of Thimphu, Punakha and Paro.

Morning & Afternoon: Fly to Paro in Bhutan, on arrival meet our representative waiting for you at the airport, transfer to your hotel.
Evening: Enjoy a visit to Paro market and town.

Morning: Visit Ta Dzong, the national museum, with your city guide, walk a short trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, the ‘Fortress of the Heap of Jewels’.
Afternoon: After lunch drive up the valley to Drukgyel Dzong, from here on a clear day you will have a splendid view of Mount Chomolhari, the second highest peak in Bhutan also visit the shrine Kyichu Lhakhang.

Morning: Drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, on the way pause briefly to admire Bhutan’s oldest fortress Semtokha Dzong.
Afternoon: Enjoy a visit the National Memorial Chorten then see Tashichho Dzong Thimphu’s most impressive building. Later in the afternoon pay a visit to the Handicrafts Emporium.

Morning: Continue your tour of Thimphu with your guide, visit the National Library, the Institute for Zorig Chusum and the National Textile Museum.
Afternoon: After lunch, visit the Handicrafts Emporium, take an early evening drive up to a lookout festooned with prayer flags, for a fine view of Thimphu and the valley.

Morning & Afternoon: Drive to the start of your trek (45min). Walk along a mule path,passing terraced fields and coniferous forest to Genekha (2800m). Camp overnight.

Morning & Afternoon: Walk gradually uphill, halfway rest at a huge rock platform, from which you will have a picturesque view of the valley below. Continue to Gur. Camp overnight (3300m).

Morning: Trek across ridges, the first pass, marked by a large cairn gives a spectacular view of the whole Dagala range.
Afternoon: Lunch at a yak herder’s camp. Walk across hills and over meadows to Yutsho Lake. Camp overnight.

Morning & Afternoon: Enjoy the day to relax, take an excursion to any one of three lakes; Relitsho, Hentsho or Jamatsho. Enjoy some trout fishing. Camp overnight camp.

Morning & Afternoon: An easy and interesting walk to Setsho and nearby lakes with a packed lunch. You could try climbing Jomo peak (5050m).

Morning & Afternoon: A short walk ascending to 4520m then descend to Panka (4000m) with splendid views of the Himalayas on the way. Camp overnight.

Morning & Afternoon: Your route entails crossing several increasingly impressive passes. After lunch, climb to the top of the last ridge on the Dagala range from where we will have a spectacular view of Thimphu valley below. Walk to Talekha. Camp overnight. and we will reach the last camp, a little above Talekha monastery.

Morning: Pass through alpine and mixed vegetation with bamboo thickets and wild flowers to Talekha monastery and village. Walk to the main road. Drive to Thimphu for lunch.
Afternoon: Drive to Paro.

Morning & Afternoon: Take an early breakfast in the hotel and transfer to Paro airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Meet our representative waiting for you at Kathmandu airport, transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is free.
Evening: Enjoy a complimentary farewell dinner.
