In India’s Ranthambore Tiger Reserve something extremely peculiar can be observed at the moment. A male tiger seems to have adopted two orphaned tiger cubs. Their mother died in Febuary and they are still too young to prey themselves and therefore provided with bait by the reserve’s staff.
The male tiger was seen following the cubs and letting them eat from his kill. There is no recorded evidence a male tiger ever behaved similar and adopted orphaned cubs. Usually male tigers do not care for their offspring, indeed they will rather regard them as food and often kill young cubs.
