WWF’s Green Hiker Campaign has officially been launched in the Kingdom of Bhutan. Previously it had sucessfully been adopted in India and Nepal, now another Himalayan country joins in the efforts to save the pristine mountain environment.
Bhutan is already taking a cautious approach to tourism, to keep it sustainable. The Green Hiker Campaign is another step to ensure the growing tourist numbers will not damage the country’s nature and environment.
To start the campaign participants of the launch ceremony were taken on a guided tour of the royal botanical park to learn about the great biodiversity encountered in Bhutan. There were more than 80 participants, including guides, trekkers, tour operators and tourism & hospitality students.
