Lukla Tenzing-Hillary Airport
Lukla is an amazing town in the Khumbu area of the Solukhumbu District, in the Sagarmatha Zone of north-eastern Nepal. The word ‘Lukla’ means a place with many goats and sheep, but you will see that few are found in the area these days. Lukla has an altitude of 2,860 metres (9,383 ft.) and is a great place for travellers to visit the Himalayas near Mount Everest. Lukla airport is very famous to start the trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. There are daily flights between Lukla and Kathmandu if the weather is good with no rains. Eighteen of the highest peaks are visible in clear weather in which four of them are above 8000m. It takes 35min to reach Lukla from Kathmandu airport.
