Holidays to China
A vast territory, a long history, and full of unlimited unknown things – welcome to China. One of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. China is the world’s most popular spot for historical sites, cultural sites, and scenic sites.
Himalayan Footsteps organises personalised luxury escorted tours in some of the highest ranked and attractive tourist spots in China.
The Forbidden City in Beijing
The Forbidden City is China’s largest and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings. It is the biggest palace complex in the world. It was once a “palace city” where ordinary people were forbidden entry. A lavish presentation of ancient Chinese architecture, over 8000 rooms with a spectacular golden roof the Forbidden City is elegantly designed and painted in red and yellow. The city was the royal palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties for 560 years till 1911; a total of 24 emperors lived there.
The Great Wall of China
“The New Seven Wonders of the World” and one of the most iconic symbols of China. The Great Wall is the longest wall in the world and consists of a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials. Generally, it is built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China.
The Terracotta Army
This is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. The hundreds of detailed life-size models represent the army that triumphed over all other Chinese armies in the Warring States Period (475-221BC), and who were the decisive factor in forming a united China.
The Li River
Li River, one of China’s most famous scenic areas, was listed as one of the world’s top ten watery wonders by American National Geographic Magazine. It is a popular photographic destination. Li River and Yangshuo are the first priority of Chinese travellers that seek a place for natural beauty. The River Landscape is decorated with startling hills, steep cliffs, and farming villages, and is lined with bamboo groves.
The view over Victoria Harbour from Victoria Peak is to Hong Kong as climbing the Great Wall is to China. Victoria Peak is the best spot to have a bird’s eye view of Hong Kong. You can enjoy gorgeous scenery at night. It offers the iconic outlook over Hong Kong’s “high-rise” to success and prosperity.
The Yellow Mountains
These are the most famous peaks in China, and one of China’s three best national parks. The Yellow Mountain National Park is a famous place for travellers because of its five wonders: sunrises, seas of clouds, oddly-shaped rocks, twisted pine trees, and hot springs. The other two parks are Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Jiuzhaigou National Park.
