Itinerary
Day 01
Arrive Delhi
Arrive at Delhi and meet our representative in the arrival lounge. Transfer to the hotel and rest of the day free.
Day 02 – B
Delhi – Leh
Early morning transfer to the airport to board flight to Leh. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 03 – B L D
Leh | Hemis | Thiksey | Shey
In the morning you will visit Hemis Monastry – the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. At any given time, there are at least a 150 lamas living in it. Hemis is especially renowned for a huge painting of the Buddha, which is displayed to the public once every 11 years. Head westwards to Thiksey monastery, near Leh, which is considered to be an architectural wonder. The Shey Monastery has a huge gold-plated copper statue of the Buddha. Alchi, Likir and Lamayuru are amongst the oldest Gompas of Ladakh, also visit Shey the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh.
Day 04 – B L D
Leh | Alchi (70 km) | Uletokpo
Morning drive to Alchi, west of Leh. Arrive and check into Uletokpo camp, followed by lunch. After lunch, we drive back to Alchi village and visit the monastery. Driving past on the nearby Srinagar-Leh highway, you would never guess that this is one of the most significant historical sites in Asia. Alchi’s large temple complex, which was founded in the 11th century, is regarded as one of the most important Buddhist centres in Ladakh and a jewel of monastic skill. You will also visit Likir Monastery. Overnight in camp.
Day 05 – B L D
Uleytokpo | Lamayuru | Kargil (166 km/ 6 hrs)
After breakfast drive onwards to Lamayuru Monastery which is a very important and one of the oldest Monasteries of Ladakh. Travel onwards to Kargil, en-route visiting Giant Buddha at Mulbek.
Day 06 – B L D
Kargil | Rangdom
Today your trek starts. Leave Kargil following the river Suru upstream, passing through interesting Muslim villages towards the Nun Kun massive. The twin peaks appear just before Panikher, a major village on this route. You will walk on through Parkachik Golmatongo and enter a beautiful grassy valley to Ranagdom Gompa. You will camp near Rangdom Gompa for the night. Here you can watch Marmots, and Rudy Shelled Ducks and other birds on the riverbanks.
Day 07 – B L D
Rangdom | Padum
Before leaving have the choice to visit the Monastery on top of the hillock in the middle of the vast of the valley. Then you will climb over the magnificent Pansy La pass with spilling glaciers and grand mountain peaks, up to Padum, where you will camp.
Day 08 – B L D
Padum
Today you will stay around Padum and have the day to visit Karsha Gompa, the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery of Zanskar. The monastery contains stunning murals and old treasures waiting for adventurers to explore them.
Day 09 – B L D
Padum | Burdan
Trek to Burdan, where you will camp by Pipchu or Reru village. A visit to Burdan Gompa is rewarding, as this gompa is build on top of a rock standing on the bank of Lingti Tsrap Chu River.
Day 10 – B L D
Burdan| Purne
Purne is a village situated on the bank of the river at the conflux of Lingti and Tsrap Chu rivers. You will cross the river over an affixed bridge and camp there.
Day 11 – B L D
Purne
You will hold the camp at Purne and have a day trip to Pukhtal Gompa.
Day 12 – B L D
Purne | Testa
On your trek today you will be going to pass through interesting villages and countryside. Camp at Testa for the night.
Day 13 – B L D
Testa | Kurgiyak
Soon after crossing the river you will enter an interesting valley leading up to the base of Sin Kun la pass also known as Shingola pass. The camp you are going to stay in tonight will be visited by the village singers who will entertain you.
Day 14 – B L D
Shingo La pass
Today you will gain further height on your way through the narrowing valley. The path will lead over boulders and rocky terrain and the camp lies just below the Shingo La pass so that you will have enough time to conquer the pass tomorrow.
Day 15 – B L D
Shingo La Pass | Ramja
Today you will cross the highest pass on this route. It is snowbound all year and bearing some glaciers you will have to cross. Your camp for tonight will be at Ramja.
Day 16 – B L D
Ramja | Jisapa
Today is the last day of the trek and you will descend to Darcha. You will have to tackle two streams fording at Zanskar Sumdoa before reaching your destination. From Darcha you will drive to Jisapa and enjoy the comforts of a hotel for tonight.
Day 17 – B
Jisapa | Manali
Today you will drive to Manali over the Rohtang pass. Passing through the grand Himalayan scenery the rivers Chandra and Bhaga keep your company until a steep ascent up the Rohtang pass. Then descend to Manali, a popular Hill resort of Himachal Pradesh.
Day 18- B
Manali | Kullu | Delhi
Transfer to the airport to board a flight to Delhi. Upon arrival transfer to hotel.
Day 19 – B
Departure Delhi
Drive to the airport, your guide will help you and bid you farewell.
