Then you will slowly drive southwards through Tibet towards the Everest region. You have the possibility to trek to Everest Base Camp before you travel back to Nepal.

Itinerary
Day 01
Arrive Kathmandu
Meet our representative at the airport and after completion of arrival formalities you will be taken to your hotel. Afternoon free for leisure.
Day 02 – B
Kathmandu
Breakfast in the Hotel before starting to a full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu.
In the morning a guided walking tour from the hotel to Durbar Square via ‘the tourist centre’ Thamel. Durbar Square is listed as one of the eight Cultural World Heritage sites by UNESCO. It is a cluster of ancient temples, palaces, courtyards and streets that date back to the 12th and 18th centuries.
In the afternoon visit Pashupatinath, one of the most important Hindu temples of Lord Shiva in the world. It draws wandering Sadhus from all over India.
A short walk away you will find Boudhanath, one of the largest Buddhist Stupas in the world. Around here you will experience vibrant and unfettered Tibetan culture from the large community of Tibetan exiles.
Today’s tour is an ideal experience to compare and contrast the different faiths but also see how they overlap and exist in harmony.
Day 03 – B
Kathmandu|Lhasa
Transfer to the airport in time to catch your flight to Lhasa. This one hour flight is one of the most spectacular you will ever see, flying over the highest mountain range on earth with excellent views of the peaks, including Mount Everest.
Upon arrival at Gonggar airport you will be met by our representative. The rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 04 – B
Lhasa
Today you will visit the spectacular Potala Palace. It is the most striking landmark in Lhasa and an architectural wonder. You will remember the sight of this fort-like palace for the rest of your life. The palace contains the private quarters of the Dalai Lama and numerous staterooms.
Later drive to Sera monastery, one of the best preserved monasteries in Tibet. It belongs to the Gelugpa sect and is one of the three great monasteries of Tibet, the other two being Drepung & Gande.
Time permitting, you will visit Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas.
Day 05 – B
Lhasa
This morning you will drive to Drepung Monastery, once one of the largest in the world with 10,000 monks. It belongs to the Gelugpa sect and contains plenty of historic relics, Buddhist scriptures, arts & crafts.
Then you will see the Jokhang Temple, an unrivalled Tibetan experience: Assimilate the smell of Yak butter and the murmur of mantras. The temple is surrounded by the Barkhor market, where you will stroll through the busy lanes that seem to have resisted all invasions of the modern world.
The temple originates from the 7th century and has architectural features from the Tang Dynasty and from Indian & Nepali Buddhist Temples. It houses many historical relics since the Tang Dynasty and statues of King Songsten Gompo, Princess Wencheng from China and Princess Bhrikuti from Nepal.
Day 06 – B
Lhasa|Gyantse
Enjoy a full day picturesque drive crossing over Karola and Kambala. You will have stunning views of the colourful Yamdrok Lake and the Tibetan lifeline river Brahmaputra (Yarlung Tsangpo). Arrive at Gyantse, where you will stay for the night.
Day 07 – B
Gyantse|Shigatse
In the morning visit the famous Kumbum Stupa: 35m high with a crown-like golden dome it is truly awe-inspiring.
Afterwards have a look at Phalkor Monastery with its fine paintings and statues. The Phalkhor holds a special meaning for Buddhism in Tibet because its unity of Gelugpa, Sakyapa & Bhuton sects.
Later drive to Shigatse, where you will visit the Panchen Lama’s Tashilumpu Monastery. It is one of the few monasteries to have survived the Cultural Revolution. It is big enough to be a walled town in its own and busy, cobbled lanes twist around the old buildings.
Tashilumpu is seat to the Panchen Lama, the second most important spiritual leader of Tibet. It was founded by Gedun Drup, who was later recognized as the 1st Dalai Lama. The main statue of this monastery is a Maitreya Buddha made of 275 kg gold, measuring 26m in height. Stay overnight in Shigatse.
Day 08 – B
Shigatse|Tingri
Today you will have a full day drive to Tingri. On the way you will cross two passes and stop to visit one of the Tibetan villages.
You will enter Everest region, or as it is called in Tibetan, the region of Qomolangma. From Tingri you can catch a first glimpse of Mount Everest. Stay overnight at Tingri.
Day 09 – B
Tingri|Rongbuk
Today you will drive to Rongbuk by land cruiser. A winding path will take you up the mountains and on a clear day you will have stupendous views of the Himalayan range. The road passes by picturesque villages and the fertile Dzaka Valley before turning southwards to Rongbuk.
Day 10 – B
Rongbuk
Rest day in Rongbuk or visit Rongbuk Monastery, which is the world’s highest monastery.
Depending on conditions of the clients and weather you will have the possibility to hike for 4 to 5 hours to Everest Base Camp.
Day 11 – B
Rongbuk|Nyalam
Today you will continue driving South to Nyalam. This is the trekking base for this region. You will stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 12 – B
Nyalam|Kathmandu
From Nyalam drive down to the border town Zhangmu. From here it is a short drive to the Friendship Bridge, which spans the Bhote Kosi River and marks the Chinese-Nepalese border. Here you will have to part with your Tibetan guide and driver and walk to the Nepalese Immigration Control in Kodari.
Your Nepalese guide will meet you there and help completing the re-entry formalities. Continue your drive to Kathmandu, where you will stay for the night.
Day 13 – B
Kathmandu
Today is free for exploration and last shopping.
Day 14 – B
Depart Kathmandu Nepal
Drive to the airport, your guide will help you and bid you farewell.
