Itinerary

Day 01
Depart UK

Day 02
Kathmandu
Meet our representative at the airport and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 03 – B
Kathmandu
Today you will take a walking tour to explore the old city of Kathmandu. Visit Durbar Square, which is listed as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage site. It is a cluster of ancient temples, palaces, courtyards and streets dating back to the 12th and 18th centuries.

You will also see the Temple of the Living Goddess, Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal residential quarter and the Mahadeva and Parvati Temples.

Later visit Swayambhunath, situated on the top of a hill, west of Kathmandu. The temple is colloquially known as the ‘monkey temple’ because of the large tribe of roving monkeys who guard it.

Day 04 -B
Kathmandu | Nagarkot
In the morning visit Bhaktapur, the city of devotes and the best preserved of all the ancient cities of Kathmandu Valley. Bhaktapur is the most original and is without a doubt the most historically authentic city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is literally a living museum where farmers dry their harvest, potters turn their wheel and people go about lives as they have done for so long.

On the way visit the Changunarayan Temple. This is the oldest temple in Kathmandu valley, it came into existence in the 4th century.

Later you will continue your drive to Nagarkot. This town is renowned for its spectacular sunrise views of the Himalaya. It is one of the best spots to view the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal.

Day 05 -B
Nagarkot | Kathmandu
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise over the great Himalayan Ranges, including sights of Mount Everest. After breakfast drive back to Kathmandu.

Visit Patan’s Durbar Square, which contains some of the finest Newari urban architecture in all of Nepal, as well as Hindu and Buddhist monuments.

Day 06 -B
Kathmandu
Today you will take a day trip to Bungmati and Khokana.

A visit to these villages offers a fascinating glimpse of rural life in the Kathmandu Valley. In both villages you will see life taking place more on the streets than inside with villagers spinning, caring for children, gossiping, processing crops in the sun. Woodcarving is an alive and strong tradition here and you will see the beautiful pieces being produced, including doors and window frames.

Bungamati is also one of the two homes of the rain god Raato Machhendranath. Kokana is particularly renowned as a producer of mustard oil.

Day 07 -B
Kathmandu | Lumbini
After breakfast, you will travel overland from Kathmandu to the Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Lumbini is listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site and revered as the place of holy pilgrimage. It is about 230 km from Kathmandu.

Upon arrival in Lumbini, you will check-in to your hotel then take a walk through the Sacred Lumbini Garden, where the Buddha was born. The exact site is marked by the Ashoka pillar.

Visit the Maya Devi Temple with its bas-relief sculpture depicting Maya Devi: She is holding on to a papal branch with her right hand while giving birth to the infant Buddha, who stands up on a lotus pedestal. Also see Pushkarni pond: the pond where Maya Devi is said to have had a bath before giving birth to Buddha.

Take a stroll around Lumbini’s many monasteries in architectural styles of different nations.

Day 08 -B
Lumbini | Pokhara
Drive to Pokhara all the way through scenic mountain terrain. Pokhara’s fame rests on the natural beauty of its lakeside location and its proximity to the mountains. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful place in the whole world. The afternoon is free for exploration on your own.

Day 09 -B
Pokhara
In the early morning drive to Sarangkot, a beautiful village best known for its sunrise. On a clear day you will have an unobstructed view of the Himalayan mountains. Return to hotel for breakfast. A short boat trip will take you to the opposite side of Phewa Lake, from where you will hike to the World Peace Pagoda. It is located high above Pokhara.

In the afternoon take a guided tour of Pokhara’s natural beauty: see the Gupteshor Mahadev Caves and Devi’s Fall.

Day 10 -B
Pokhara
Today you will go on a day trip to Bhimad. It takes just an hour’s drive from Pokhara to reach Bhimad. Experience real Nepali village life and enjoy your morning meal with a local family. Visit different family homes, see how they live and enjoy their hospitality. Drive back to Pokhara after your evening meal.

Day 11 -B
Pokhara
Today is a free day in Pokhara for your personal activities and relaxing.

Day 12 -B
Pokhara | Kathmandu
In the morning fly back to Kathmandu.

In the afternoon visit Pashupatinath, one of the most important Hindu temples of Lord Shiva in the world. It draws wandering Sadhus from all over India.

A short walk away you will find Boudhanath, one of the largest Buddhist Stupas in the world. Around here you will experience vibrant and unfettered Tibetan culture from the large community of Tibetan exiles.

Today’s tour is an ideal experience to compare and contrast the different faiths but also see how they overlap and exist in harmony.

Day 13 -B
Kathmandu
In the early morning you have the opportunity to take an optional Himalayan flight. A one-hour mountain flight is a very special opportunity to have close views of Mt. Everest, the world’s highest peak at 8,848m, and other peaks of the Himalayas.

In the afternoon visit Budhanilkantha, a 5m-long mighty scale sculpture of Vishnu as Narayan. It was created in the 7th or 8th century from a monolithic piece of stone and is the most impressive, if not the most important, Vishnu shrine in the country.
