Day 01
Depart UK
Day 02
Arrive Kathmandu
Meet our representative at the airport and after completion of arrival formalities you will be taken to your hotel. Afternoon free for leisure.
Day 03 – B
Kathmandu
Explore the old city of Kathmandu with a walking tour including Durbar Square, Temple of the Living Goddess, Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal residential quarter and the Mahadeva and Parvati Temples.
In the afternoon drive to Swayambhunath, situated on the top of a hill west of Kathmandu. The temple is colloquially known as the ‘monkey temple’ because of the large tribe of roving monkeys who guard the temple.
Day 04 – B
Kathmandu | Lhasa
Transfer to the airport in time to catch your flight to Lhasa. This one hour flight is one of the most spectacular you will ever see, flying over the highest mountain range on earth with excellent views of the peaks, including Mount Everest.
Upon arrival at Gonggar airport you will be met by our representative. The rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 05 – B
Lhasa
Today you will plunge into the culture of Tibet. At the famous Sera Monastery, you will get an insight into the important aspects of Tibetan Buddhism. Pay a visit to Norbulingka, the summer retreat of the Dalai Lama. Completed in 1956, the handsome building is ornated with Tibetan carvings and paintings.
Then you will see the Jokhang Temple, an unrivalled Tibetan experience: Assimilate the smell of Yak butter and the murmur of mantras. The temple is surrounded by the Barkhor market, where you will stroll through the busy lanes that seem to have resisted all invasions of the modern world.
Day 06 – B
Lhasa
Today you will visit the spectacular Potala Palace. It is the most striking landmark in Lhasa and an architectural wonder. You will remember the sight of this fort-like palace for the rest of your life. The palace contains the private quarters of the Dalai Lama and numerous staterooms.
As you are guided through the ancient chambers of the palace, you get to see Tibetan art at its best. The Potala Palace has a vast array of intricate Tibetan murals and beautiful statues. You will also get to view the tombs of eight Dalai Lamas.
Later in the day you will visit the beautifully landscaped Drepung Monastery where you can observe nuns and monks chanting and performing religious discourses. The monastery once was one of the largest in the world with 10,000 monks. After the day’s tour is over, you are escorted back to your hotel for a well- earned rest.
Day 07 – B
Lhasa
This day is for you to spend it as you wish. Explore and soak in the sights and sounds of the old city, revisit a favourite monastery, go for souvenir hunting in the busy local market at Barkhor Square, or simply sit in a café and watch pilgrims as they circumambulate the Jokhang.
There is also the option of an additional tour to places such as the Tibetan Medical Centre, Ganden Monastery and Tsurphu Monastery.
Day 08 – B
Lhasa | Gyantse
Moving along the Friendship Highway, you drive past Khamba La, at 4794 meter, with a brief halt to savor majestic views of Yamdrok-tso Lake and Nazin Kang Sa, standing at 7252m. On turning westwards, you come across another pass, Karo La at 5045m. If you look at the road, you can see huge glaciers tumbling down. After driving 261 km, beautifully landscaped Tibetan villages become visible as you enter the town of Gyantse.
Day 09 – B
Gyantse | Shigatse
In the morning visit Gyantse Dzong, a 14th century historical fort that overlooks the entire Gyantse and the surrounding Nyang Chu Valley. Move on to see the famous Kumbum Stupa: 35m high with a crown-like golden dome it is truly awe-inspiring.
Afterwards have a look at Phalkor Monastery with its fine paintings and statues. The Phalkhor holds a special meaning for Buddhism in Tibet because its unity of Gelugpa, Sakyapa & Bhuton sects.
Later drive to Shigatse, where you will spend the night.
Day 10 – B
Shigatse | Shegar
Start the day with sightseeing at Shigatse. You will visit the Panchen Lama’s Tashilumpu Monastery. It is one of the few monasteries to have survived the Cultural Revolution. It is big enough to be a walled town in its own and busy, cobbled lanes twist around the old buildings.
Tashilumpu is seat to the Panchen Lama, the second most important spiritual leader of Tibet. It was founded by Gedun Drup, who was later recognized as the 1st Dalai Lama. The main statue of this monastery is a Maitreya Buddha made of 275 kg gold, measuring 26m in height.
Later drive to Shegar. Today you will traverse along the Friendship Highway amidst picturesque landscape driving past the small town of Lhatse and cross Gyamtso La pass at 5220m. As the route opens into plains, many monasteries and camps of nomadic herders become visible en route to Shegar.
Day 11 – B
Shegar | Rongbuk
Drive to Rongbuk – Explore Everest base camp.
Away from Shegar, you will drive to the south crossing Pang La pass at 5150m. Along the drive you can bask in the splendor of majestic views of snow-capped peaks from Makalu to Shishapangma. After arriving Rongbuk, you can then view spectacular sight of Mount Everest. You have the opportunity to explore Everest Base Camp. The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensates for it. It truly is an awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above you.

Drive from Base Camp to Nyalam (215km)
You will drive past Tingri crossing Lalung La pass at 5124m and Shug La pass at 5200m. Savoring the enchanting views of the surrounding peaks of Shishapangma, Cho Oyu, Menlungtse and Gauri Shankar, you descend from the arid Tibetan Plateau to Nyalam.
Day 21- B
Nyalam|Kathmandu
From Nyalam, you drive down to the border town of Zhangmu. From Zhangmu, it’s a short drive to the Friendship Bridge which spans the Bhote Kosi River and marks the Chinese – Nepalese border where you part with your Tibetan guide and driver and walk to Nepalese Immigration Control in Kodari where you will be met by your Nepalese staff. After completing the re-entry formalities you continue the drive to Kathmandu.

Kathmandu
Day free for optional sightseeing and activities. Evening farewell dinner with cultural program.
Day 23- B
Depart Nepal
Drive to the airport, your guide will help you and bid you farewell.
