Shivapuri Holidays

Destinations

Shivapuri National park was only established in 2002 and extended to its current size in 2009. It lies on the fringe of Kathmandu valley and covers areas in the districts Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk. The climate in the park is a transition zone between subtropical and temperate climate.

The park is a watershed and a major water supply for Kathmandu valley. As quality and quantity of available water reduced due to deforestation, soil erosion and other problems that were a result of over cultivation, the area was first protected as a wildlife reserve, later made an official national park.

Shivapuri is a paradise for flora and fauna close to the capital Kathmandu, and a great place for a quick escape from noise and pollution. A stay in Shivapuri village offers grand views of the Himalayas and the lush green of the national park.
