Koshi Tappu Holidays
Koshi Tappu is a wildlife reserve on the flood plains of Sapta-Koshi river in East Nepal. It is the last habitat for the endangered wild water buffalo in Nepal, and contains areas of grassland and small islands (tappu). A few Gangetic dolphins live in the Sapta-Koshi.
The area is popular with bird watchers, who use the serenity and solitude of the reserve to look for rare species like the Bengal florican and sarus crane. More than 439 species of birds can be found here, including migratory birds from Russia and Tibet. Experienced ornithologists in the park lodges lead walks, and Elephant safaris are a good way to spot the other wildlife in the park.
