History of Himalayan Footsteps:
Started by Olly Margry, who left The University of Edinburgh in the second year of his degree to join the work force and with the support of flexible part time working from his employer he could pursue his dream of opening a travel company that could share with the world his passion for Nepal and the Himalayas.
Himalayan Footsteps was founded in 2007 in Edinburgh on Morningside High-street when Olly was 23 years old by using the money from his part time job, his savings, and a grant of £1000 from Business Gateway; Olly put a deposit down on his store and opened a website.
Olly did not come from a travel agent/tour operator background but he saw this as an advantage because he could see areas for improvement. With his personal contacts and relationships formed from years of travelling and living in Nepal as a volunteer teacher, Olly had a platform to build on.
In 2009 Olly started working with a business coach to assist with reaching his goals.
In 2011 a goal was reached and the company was moved from high street to website.
And in 2011 Olly’s wife Isha joined the company and they achieved their dream of working together.
